This species formerly known as Brachypelma pallidum, is the most criminally underrated Brachypelma out there. Heck, 16 years ago, they could be had for a couple bucks more than B. vagans. As they fell more and more out of favor, and were bred less and less, what happened? Wellllll, he says, stroking his beard and looking pompous, people found our just how kool, subtly pretty and impressive they truly are. Prices skyrocketed as demand played Jesse Owens to supply’s Sal Fasano. Google these names and you’ll get the dorky comparisons. If you’re not familiar with B. verdezi, ’bout time you are. They hit a bruising 6.5″, often pushing 7″. They have a gorgeous two toned brown and black carapace with a cephalic V, a blackish-grey overall abdomen and leg coloration, while the abdomen does sport some long red setae and the patellas have faint striping. Yes, you need one. Temps of 75-82 and 60% humidity are on the mark.
