Here we have one of the most popular of the genus Avicularia, the purpurea. And anyone who has seen an adult totally gets it. Light purple carapace, darker purple almost violet legs, and a dark purple (almost black) abdomen. Mr. Wonka would approve. They are one of the smaller Avicularia, usually topping out around 4-4.25″. They are fairly skittish by nature, and while not defensive, handling is discouraged. They do best with temps in the 76-82 range. That’s where mine stay, and they do fine. Mine also do fine with 75% humidity.
