These Chilean beauties were once lumped into the genus Paraphysa, but have since been reclassified into Euathlus. Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually get moved to Thrixopelma, but until then, we’ll go with this. Medium sized 5.5″ and stocky as adults, E pulcherrimaklaasi have a greenish carapace, orange stripes on the patellas, and those glorious blue-green shimmering femurs. This is a woefully underappreciated species. They are as hardy as any Chilean T, and while not the most docile, some specimens will tolerate handling, if you absolutely, positively must futz. Temps can be anywhere between 70-85 with humidity of 50%.
