Iridopelma is a curious genus, as they’re closely related to Avicularia, have many of the same habits, but will ultimately bite your face off. Seriously, they don’t care for most things. They do like to eat however, and grow incredibly quick. Baby I. hirsutum are among the most brilliantly colored and patterned. They begin as blue and pink jewels, and add a little bit of brown with each successive molt, but they retain that incredible ribbed abdominal zigzag. As adults, they largely brown out, have some subtle leg striping, but still have that zigzag! And my aggressive diatribe from earlier is no joke, as they will threat display to the point of nearly toppling over. They are fairly easy to maintain by arboreal standards, needing 75-84 and humidity of 70%.
